Paid Time Off (PTO) can be used for just about anything: holidays, family time, and personal needs. You can use regular PTO for unplanned absences, however the absence may result in an attendance occurrence unless it is protected by other policies. See the Attendance and Punctuality Policy for details

  •  The longer you work for Walmart, the more PTO you can earn.
  •  Use the Me@ app or GTA Portal to request time off and have it approved.
  • If you don’t have enough PTO to cover your time off request, GTA will automatically use your PPTO.

PPTO can be used for any reason, including for planned or unplanned absences. Protected PTO is available to Store, Club, and Supply Chain associates, plus other locations where required by law.

  • PPTO provides absence protection, which means the absence will be excused and will not result in any occurrences or disciplinary action on your attendance record. · See the Attendance and Punctuality Policy for details
  • Use the Me@ app or GTA Portal to request to use PPTO.
  • If you don’t have enough PPTO to cover your time off request, GTA will automatically use your PTO.

You may view your available PTO and Protected PTO balances at any time in the Global Time & Attendance Portal (GTAP), along with a history of how much you have earned and used since the last pay period. GTAP updates balances in real time as time off requests are approved.

On your paystub, you'll see pay and paid time off amounts used in the pay period and remaining balances at the end of the pay period.

As a salaried associate working in a facility—including Optical/Vision Doctors of Optometry—you will receive your annual PTO days on February 1, the first day of the plan year.

  • The total amount of your annual PTO is based on your service years celebrated during the plan year, your weekly work schedule (five, four, or three days a week), and any unused days you carried over from the previous plan year.
  • Unused PTO from the previous plan year may affect how much PTO you receive for the new plan year.
  • During your first year, the initial number of PTO days is prorated based on the month of hire.
  • PTO may be requested in either half-day or full-day increments. If your time away is less than half a day, PTO is not required.
  • We recommend tracking your PTO in the Global Time & Attendance Portal and in certain locations, tracking PTO is required. You may view and request PTO in the Global Time & Attendance Portal (GTAP).

With FlexTO, there are no set limits or balances—you can take the time off you need throughout the year.

  • We recommend tracking your FlexTO usage in the Global Time & Attendance Portal (GTAP) to help you and your manager with your time off.  In certain locations, tracking FlexTO is required.
  • FlexTO may be requested in half-day or full-day increments. If your time away is less than half a day, FlexTO is not required.
